Nov. 26th, 2003 11:44 amThe striped cat is lame.
Last night, we were working on an important feline skill, that of playing with string. I'd started with Koshka on my lap, and a six-inch scrap of yarn, but it soon became apparent that the business end of the string and my hand needed to be farther apart. I went and got the cat fishing pole (a plastic stick about a yard long, with a string on the end, with a connector on the end of that and a tassel of suede laces on the end), took off the tassel, and tied a length of yarn onto the end of the string. Koshka is very good at playing with string. Autumn is even fairly good at playing with string, even though with all the unaccustomed exercise she had a gastric reversal. Iniki, OTOH, is lame. BK draped the string over her back--she just sat there. I flicked it around for her, and she just watched. I draped it over her head, so a loop was sitting on her head with the two ends dangling down in front of her eyes, and she just sat there. Lame, lame, lame.
She's just not very good at being a cat. If cats had licenses, hers would be restricted, or she'd still have a cat permit--not allowed to cat unless under the supervision of a fully-licensed cat.
