Random thoughts.
May. 17th, 2005 11:47 amSo I went and exchanged my bike jacket yesterday, and found one that fits better (and is actually a woman's jacket, may wonders never cease). I am positive that I did not try that particular model on when I originally went shopping, so I'm glad I decided to swap out the other one. Note that I bought the jacket (and the gloves and hemlemet) several weeks ago. April 30th, according to my receipt. Three weeks.
The bike salesguy that I'd talked to recognized me immediately. The not-bike salesguy who'd worked with me before recognized me immediately. I am attributing this to a) being a solo female doing actual personal bike-related shopping, not for presents or anything, and b) the purple hair. Again, no other solo women in the store--I'm not sure there were any there at all yesterday. E suggested that me being cute might have something to do with it as well. *shrug*
We leave for Quest on Thursday morning. Yay!! It promises to be fun, and we won't starve (gotta love those group meal "plans"). And the weather should be palatable--of course, this being the Black Hills in May, one must plan for extremes as well as middles. But that's ok. I can handle that. I have wool. *g* I have new shoes. *glee* I will bring much sewing and spinning and my scribal box, and Stuff will get done--there's no way it can't, since the A&S quotient of the cabin is going to be so high as to cause non-A&S people to spontaneously burst into flame. I have a suspicion that I might get shanghaied into retaining--we shall see.
My MCaT journal arrived yesterday. *drools* I should probably *not* bring it to Quest--if I'm going to spend the whole weekend reading I should bring my homework instead.
Still not sure if I want to put trim on the hem of the yellow gown or not. I suppose I should finish sewing down the seam allowances first, before I make that decision, and put the neckline stuff on (thus turning it into a more 12th c. gown than a 13th c. one).
It has just occurred to me that I haven't a clue what color my new gown ought to be. I have that lovely scarlet. I have a dark red that washes up incredibly fuzzily--not sure what it's likely to be. I have a nice rust color. Since it's going to be July, maybe it might make sense to use linen (in which case my color options shrink significantly). Hmmmm. *ponders*
