My OS class is going to be...interesting. We started with fundamentals--and I do mean fundamentals. Instruction sets, electrical impulses, that sort of thing. Some of the other students were complaining about how difficult this class is starting out as. Sheesh. I appear, though, to be the only person in the class with any sort of hardware knowledge, which shouldn't *really* surprise me since they still don't teach hardware in CS. So we talked RISC and CISC chips a little, and then he started on the Little Man Computer simulation model.
I was suddenly (yet briefly) and disconcertingly 17 again, in my BASIC class in high school. I was hugely amused.
He asked at one point if we all had systems at home we could install XP Pro on. *snerk* Technically, I don't--because my test system is over at E's being his XP test box. So we'll share it. *grins*
I foresee a certain amount of either sitting on my hands or taping my mouth shut, in this class.
Also we meet in what is actually a Sun lab, full of Blade 100s and 150s. *whimper*
