[ETA an hay-moving song.]
Home.
We have showers. Yeah! We have a nifty drawbridge. Yeah! We have a freakin' long walk to ANYWHERE. Yeah! It's the Northshield Pennsic exercise plan!!
Wow, that's a nifty sunburn. Did we forget that woad blocks sunlight, perhaps?
I'm all about being comfortable in one's body. BUT, when you've costumed it so it looks like a very garish and inexpertly tied-off mis-shapen sausage AND even my uninformed eyes can see you can't dance, could you please not demonstrate this in the middle of the food court?
Is it raining AGAIN??
A breeze! I felt a breeze! [5 hours later] When is this wind going to stop blowing?
Because blowing soot out of your nose for a week is always so much fun.
Hay ho, hay ho, it's o'er the field we go
Northshield's best 'cause we're well-dressed
Hay ho, hay ho hay ho hay ho!
And lastly, with profound apologies to the ghost of Edgar Allen Poe--
Hear the morons with the drums -
Discount drums!
What a world of agony their cacophony becomes!
How they thud, thud, thud,
In the smoke and mist of night!
While the stars that brightly spatter
All the heavens, seem to shatter
With an oscillating fright;
Keeping time, time, time,
In a sort of Runic rhyme,
To the tintinnabulation caused by monkeys without thumbs
Pounding drums, drums, drums, drums,
Drums, drums, drums-
From the thudding and the thumping of the drums.

Date: 2008-08-11 06:25 pm (UTC)I was not at Pennsic. I have, in previous years, been at Pennsic, certainly enough to be able to post the way I did. :-)

Date: 2008-08-12 12:54 pm (UTC)n-e way, the faublous costuming sin I noted this year was not Loincloth Man with Bannana, but people belting entire clothing-weight leather hides around themselves. I could only think, "Really? What fucking medieval period is that supposed to be?"
I think it's time for the Pennsic Winceable Garb scale. Oy vey.
On the other hand, there was a greater number of people who were at least reasonably costumed, although I don't know if the fact that attendance at the war overall was down made them more noticable, or if there is really a quiet improvement in certain sections of the population.
