Twenty-eight years ago today, the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald was lost with all hands off Whitefish Point, MI. Today at dusk, the beacon at Split Rock Lighthouse will be lit briefly in memorial of the Fitzgerald, her crew, and all the other sailors lost on the Great Lakes.

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point.
