Short update.

Still hurts to t ype, although a lot less than it used to. Switched back to the M$ Natural keyboard to rest the thumbs, but it doesn't help the index fingers. Gah.

Tuition is paid, or at least starting to be paid. Discussions of medieval French lyrics are happening on the historic needlework list in the name of knitting. Heh.

Eyes are still slightly blurry. Braies are done. I might have enough to do a basic underwear article for Libbet, finally. She'll be happy.

Anybody have any useful insights on how one would go about strapping one's breasts down so they conform better to a medieval standard of beauty? Not that I fit the rest of the description* except maybe the long fingers, but if I can mush the boobs into submission enough, I don't have to change the dress pattern. Much.

*Tall. Thin. Grey eyes. Golden tresses. Long-waisted, long fingers. Clear white skin. Small high breasts. Some later medieval and Renaissance descriptions involve skin so translucent that one can see red wine going down the lady's throat.

Sleepy. Meh. Bed early tonight, I think.

The cats don't seem to have a lot of reaction to the absence of Her Plaidness, but not being whined at in the early morning because THERE'S NO FOOD and the food dish is EMPTY and I'M DYYYYYIINNNNNNGGGG OF HUNGER and there's no FOOOOOOOD and I'm HUNGRY and the DISH IS EMPTY and I'm STARVING to DEATH and there's NO FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD is a plus. Not that she's a drama queen or anything, mind you....

[Actually that last would be funnier if she weren't spayed, but, hey, we must work with what we're given.]

12th-13th c. europe. Marie de France, Chretien de Troyes, etc.

Hmmmm...

Well, for Roman, I wear a strophium... a band of muslin that I tie around and it mostly works... I'm still working on developing a better one, getting the tension right is difficult (Too loose, and it falls down. Too tight, and I get bruises). I'm reasonably sure that something similar would be used there. Linen might work better....

Strapping down under my usual 13th c. stuff, but it's a new pattern, and pretty tight across the upper chest.

I've always used extra-wide ACE bandage, and a tip: Always start at the bottom and squish them flat-or-sideways-or-slightly-up, never down, because that /really/ hurts.
