Why do orange-flavored candies have to taste like St. Joseph's children's aspirin?

[Ed. The candy in question was the orange variety of Skittle, although the orange variety of a number of other things including Starburst also tastes like children's aspirin.]

But they'd still taste like the aforesaid aspirin. Which are not small, white, and smooth. So nyah. ;-P

Not to mention, much more difficult to chew. Let alone swallow.
