Rainy days and Mondays...
Jan. 6th, 2003 11:37 amAck. Ack ack ack ack ack.
This weekend I discovered two things. One, that it is possible to make a two-gallon batch of cheese in the roaster, and two, that it's not necessarily a good idea to do so. Because it's hard to get the curds and whey out of the roaster in anything resembling a neat manner.
Ah, well. Live and learn.
Perhaps tonight's batch of cheese will be acid-coagulated, instead of rennet cultured. Rennet takes FOREVER, and I don't have that kind of time. Sigh. It's really coming down to the wire, now. Lots of little things that still need to be done, that are fairly simple but time-consuming. Like the cheesemaking, and the chopping of vegetables, and the reducing of 10 loaves of bread to breadcrumbs.
I will be a very happy camper when this is all over, and I can have my life back. We've already started on the list of things to work on after Saturday--painting the coffers, tweaking my dress pattern, sanding the rest of my weaving cards, ripping up the living room carpet, turning the dining room into an office and moving the table to the dining end of the living room, straightening up the sewing room AGAIN (it had a visible floor once, really, I promise), sorting through more stuff to give away, etc. I am feeling productive, somehow--Look, I made a list! Look, I made cheese! And more cheese!
Maybe I should attempt to get some real work done today...nah.
So far the usefulness of David's Zaurus, as far as I am concerned, besides that it is harder to accidentally delete things from the to-do list, is that it plays Scrabble (or a variant therof). I like Scrabble, even though it's missing letters. How can you possibly make decent words without a thorn? I mean, really. I will have to get two sets, and modify some additional tiles so I can have proper letters.
