The Ragnar/axe story for Aurelia, as promised.

Over at the thrown weapons range, having thrown sharp things, I was talking to Darius and John Frye (It's a Saxon! Kill it! Kill it!) (And yes, I did point and shout, for old-time's sake) and we were watching Ragnar throw axes. Mostly single-bladed, and then he brought out this huge double-bladed monster that one would not think out of place with a lumberjack. So he was throwing that (two-handed, over the head), and about three throws in, it hit the target just completely wrong and the handle broke. And the head goes blade-down into the grass pretty emphatically. And Darius says something along the lines of "Hey, you were lucky it wasn't your foot."

I just reports 'em. And no, I do not know if Darius knows the Ragnar/Pennsic/axe story or not.

I had a suspicion that he did, by the evil grin that he had when he said it. As opposed to his completely innocent question of Green Jenny about why Nordskogen only had one Alastair, which was a beautiful example of "Darius has no idea what goes on in Nordskogen".

I know people that know Darius outside the SCA. However, they call him neither Darius nor Curt. They refer to him as "Clueless". So I heard "Clueless" stories for years before I met him. Then I met him. "Darius.. why does that name sound familiar?" Then he said his real name and I blurted out, to his face, "Oh, YOU're /Clueless/!" - and he gave me a puzzled and blank look.
