O God! Daar's 'n byl in my kop!

The power went out again today, at roughly 8:30. Came back on at roughly 12:30, which was the extreme end of the power company's 1-4 hour estimate. Sigh. Last week when this happened, I put a battery lamp on my shopping list. Saturday at Target I decided that what I needed was a smaller Mag lite, so I bought one of the 2 AA ones. Blue, since they didn't have purple. It works very well to see one's hand-sewing when it's hanging from the top of one's shirt collar.
I did get a certain amount of sewing done on the smock, I've gotten almost halfway up the second gore, I think. Or maybe a third of the way up. The first side is done. I will still need to do something about the seam allowances to keep them from raveling, though, and there's just so much information on how they did that in period. I try to remember to bring my sewing basket with me, so I have something to ease my brain over lunch--today I spent several happy hours accidentally poking holes in my fingers. I did not, however, bleed on the linen. This is probably an accomplishment.
The Edina storefront for Sweet Celebrations is open 8-5:30 on weekdays, and 9-2 on Saturdays. This would explain why I have never found them open--I've always come by after they've closed. But I can drive over during my lunch break and get the remaining bits and pieces of stuff I need for cake-building.
Koshka has her followup appointment today. I don't know if she'll have to stay overnight or not this time, though. I hope not. She has a much gentler way of waking one up in the morning then does the striped demon, although Iniki is more fling-able.
My baby squash seems to have rotted before I could harvest it. It was hiding under a leaf and I didn't see it in time. Drat. But the tomatoes are doing well, as are the peppers. And the basil. And the other basil. And the other other basil. And you wouldn't know that much mint was ripped out a couple of weeks ago, either.
