Eeem.

Woke up this morning and there was a cat next to my head. Not a problem, I'm used to that. Then I moved, and the cat went "meh?". Hey, that's not my cat! Yes, it was the plaid one, who then proceeded to spend the next ten minutes while I chased consciousness going "meh" at me and making those purring chirps trying to get me to pet her. And head-butting the pillow. Didn't listen to me when I told her that her mommy was downstairs, either.

My left middle finger still hurts where I sliced it with the tip of the knife the other day, although it's not bleeding right now, which is a good sign.

Went to meeting last night, explained tablet-weaving to G, left early when the power in the neighborhood went out. Damn, but I would not want to have that happen on a night like last night, when it was -15F and -40 windchill or something along those lines. Went home, talked pearls and TW with D, went to bed. Did not expect other house inhabitants home, was surprised. Was planning on doing the cat box tonight but apparently was pre-empted.

It's nice when one's efforts to do the cat box are pre-empted. That happens so rarely in my world ...

Except it was my turn. We have a LitterMaid, so the cat box isn't really an onerous chore.

I thouhgt it was mine.
I was going to apologise.

You kidding? Absolutely! One of the small anticipated benefits of my hypothetical pregnancy is not having to touch the litter box for nine whole MONTHS! :)

See you in a few hours. Rest up. I want OFF litter box duty. ;)

Yep, I got chirped at too. The plaid one loves to be scritched...

I keep telling her that she would get plenty of skritching if she'd go downstairs to her mommy, but she doesn't listen.

You could get one of those "Pocket Pussies" I keep hearing about! Imagine, a cute little pussy you can take wherever you go... oh, wait a minute.

Um... nevermind.

well, that's what I'm doing. ;)

Multi-coloured with stripes. Her patches of colour are large enough to have their own stripes, so it made sense, at least to me. Initially it was the Dark Cat of Chaos, the Striped Cat of Chaos, and the Plaid Cat of Chaos (Koshka, Iniki, and Patches, a.k.a. Secret Agent Fang). I tried calling Secret Agent Fang the Paisley Cat of Chaos, but it would never stick.

We frequently refer to the other two as 'the black cat' and 'the striped cat' (occasionally with a genitive pronoun, i.e., *your* black cat) and I have enough trouble not calling Autumn by the wrong name in the first place, it's easier to refer to her as the plaid cat.

Wait.. so Autumn used to be Patches..? I'm terribly lost now.

[identity profile] pixel39.livejournal.com 2004-01-22 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
No, Patches was the original plaid cat. Then she moved back to SF with Rusty. Then she moved across the street to live with the neighbors. Then Birdkiller moved into our basement, and she brought Autumn with her. Since Autumn is also a calico, and it's easier referring to her as the plaid cat than it is to be calling her "Patches" half the time, she became the new plaid cat. Not that she knows her name at all, or indeed gives any indication that she knows she's being spoken to. She does, however, know immediately when another cat is being spoken to, and whines accordingly.
