ahem. this was not an entirely silly comment (although a lot silly). i like you both very much, that is not at all the point. i know you - separately, it feels like. had i known you and you were not already a couple, you would not be two people i encouraged to get together.

Hmmm. The problem is that a lot of the *why* has to do with the people that we were then. And I'm not sure I could adequately describe that to you, since I was inside of it. I can say that we had more shared interests at the time--now, we have shared meta-interests. We always did have our own things going on--that's probably part of it too. Allowing the other to have his/her own personhood independent of the relationship, instead of insisting on two halves of one thing.

I know, this doesn't really answer the question, but I have never been good at huge umbrella vagueness. Specifics, I can answer. Generalities, not so much.

If it was a guaranteed thing, then I would probably consider it as a real thing. [At the moment, there's not even enough time for it as a hobby, which is sad, but life is like that sometimes.] If it became too much work then it wouldn't be fun anymore, which is why it would have to be a guaranteed thing for me to even consider it. But I don't want to poison something I enjoy by making it into work.
