It's raining again, which is a good thing for the environment (except maybe our basement, but we'll find out, I suppose) but not for me. I am a little ball of ow this morning, and needing the defrost set to cold on the way to work did not help matters any.

On the other hand, I finished my embroidery last night. Yay! Now I have to make a pouch to put it on. :-)

We sort of kind of started discussing Coronation spiffiness, but not really. Mostly we got as far as not wanting to wear black and gold, since neither of us would wear it otherwise. If this pattern that I'm currently working on turns out to be functional, I can make a green gown with the green wool gabardine that I've had sitting around for ages and use the rest of the purple for another project. Like a bliaut. Which would be spiffily cool.

I forgot how having someone sit in on your calls cramps your style WRT keeping caught up on email and such like. But today he's not sitting in, or at least not right now, and it's pretty quiet. So I can catch up, finally. Yay!

I am going to Lilies after all, but I am sort of trying to keep it quiet. A suggested Turkish stuff for Lilies, since I have no war garb anymore, and I'm sort of (shock) not in the mood for dresses. So I'm supposed to be going through my fabric stash and finding suitable Turkish-ish stuff. And I'm giving serious thought to some middle-class Flemish stuff, as you've probably seen. I seem to be getting active again. I'm going to Crown with A and T not-this-week-end-but-next-week-end, in Iowa. Um.

So no point to this, I just wanted to tell you. Um.

The embroidery is Edwin's arms, to go on a pouch flap, but now that it's done it's too spiffy to put on any of the existing pouches. We do this to ourselves ALL THE TIME, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Caftans, even though they are dress-like, are Good Things. I'm sending a certain amount of my linen down with the wicked stepdaughter since it turns out she's going to Lilies with her boy, and she a) doesn't do heat well, and b) usually does late-period, mostly Italian, which is really too heavy for Lilies. But she's a girly-girl, so dresses don't bother her. :-) Remind me closer to Lilies to point you at her and her boy--I think you'd like them. Even with the Neopets.

I should look up my quickie ME reference sheet and give you useful tips. As far as Flemish, does this mean corsets? Mmmmm, Cat in a corset.

I'm actually going to Triskelion this weekend, but I think it's closer to us than it is to you. Maybe about the same.

Yes, Italian would be bad for Lilies, especially if she doesn't do heat well. It will probably be quite hot and very muggy. I will duly remind you; I am going to try and meet more people this year.

Yes, useful tips would be good. A said something vague about trousers and long jacketty things, which sounded good to me as not-dresses. :) I have been wearing dresses for too long.

I think Flemish means corsets. :) A said she'd give me a hand when I want to start making it, so that will be good.

This weekend I am probably writing a paper, and if I'm not writing a paper, I'm studying for my Geosciences final. Bleah. But weekend after, all my finals will be done but Ancient Rome, and that's not till the Wednesday following. So an event sounded good to me.

I would be pleased to meet you at Lilies. Do you know where you are going to camp yet? Have you been before? Do you need any advice/information about Lilies? (People have warned you that it is likely to both be fifties or cooler at night part of the time, over a hundred during the day part of the time, and that humidity will range from 90-100%, right? Plan for bad storms and very hot sticky weather, because you're likely to get both.)

The neopets are very addictive. I find myself going to stores I wsould never go to (like K-mart) looking for colors I don't have yet.

I'm looking forward to meeting you too. I have not been to Lilies before. I swore to never to to Pennsic again because it keeps trying to kill me, so we're going to give this a try. I've been warned about the weather and such (which is why I'm borrowing linen from Pixel) I'm not sure where we're camping yet, I leave that to the boy.

But yes, come find us. We'll have scotch eggs. *g*

Bring fans, and extra tarps in case, and a trenching tool.

I camp out on the far point--sort of across from and past the Lost Boys, out that way. It's pretty far from everything, and they stopped putting portajohns out in the final turnaround so the morning hike to the potty is kind of extreme, but it's quiet and sparsely populated. If you have a battery-powered weed whacker or something like that, and you have room for it, you might think about bringing it. They cut the grass fairly short close to all the roads, but when you get farther than about 10 feet from a road, the grass will be pretty tall.

Also, you will probably want to avoid camping in treelines. Everyone always wants the shade, but they're full of poison ivy and ticks.

Scotch eggs are hard-boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and rolled in breadcrumbs and fried. They're yummy even cold.

And they're likely to be camping with the Lost Boys, or thereabouts, given that the boy is one.

You'll need to work a little harder at convincing Ranj, I think. Travel is difficult for him--we're sort of thinking that he'd want to take the train, and I'd probably drive up, or fly? Something like that. So it will be a little odd to coordinate. But I'm sure it can be done.
